MIKE EISENMAN  

 

In August of 2004, following a 30 year business career ranging from a family owned business to major corporations to small business; Mike was appointed the Director of the Department of Business Assistance. From May of 2002 till August of 2004 he was Deputy Director of DBA. In addition to his duties as Deputy Director, in 2003, Mike became Manager of the administration’s Small Business Initiative , reviewing how the Commonwealth can better serve the small business community.

 

In 1972, Mike assumed management of his family manufacturing business as Chief Operating Officer after completing active duty in the U.S. Navy (later retiring as a Lieutenant). He held that position for four years until the company was sold to Hudson Pulp & Paper, and subsequently stayed on with Hudson in an operating capacity. Mr. Eisenman held several division manager positions with Georgia Pacific Corporation, which had acquired Hudson in 1979. Throughout his career with those companies, he held various operating management positions in sales, marketing, strategic planning and development, and international sales, serving last as General Manager of the Converted Kraft Products Group at Georgia Pacific.

 

In 1989, Mike became General Manager of Consumer Products and Parts Division of AMF Bowling, Inc., a privately held leisure products company based in Richmond , Virginia . Under Mike’s leadership, his division made the transition from turnaround to growth through both internal development and acquisitions. During his tenure, revenues more than doubled, and operating cash flow more than tripled. Mr. Eisenman also sourced and evaluated many of his division’s strategic and complementary acquisitions.

 

In 1995 Mike became a Managing Partner for Operations of Colonnade Capital, a LBO Fund. In 1998 Mike with a partner formed Morgan Eisenman, an Executive Search firm and also Norwick Corporation – a small business consulting firm, of which he is President. In 2001 he sold Morgan Eisenman.

 

Mr. Eisenman is active in a number of civic organizations and is a soccer referee. He holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce of the University of Pennsylvania . He currently serves on the boards of two privately held companies, Jewish Family Services, the Hebrew Fund for the Aged, the VCU Children’s Medical Center , the Richmond Strikers, and the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). He is also an Investment Trustee or Investment Committee Member for several organizations.
